Rock-Able Disability Awareness/Anti-Bullying

School Assembly Program

“I felt Jesse’s singing in my heart. I loved him!”.

A student from Chesapeake Terrace Elementary School, Oct. 2015

PROGRAM GOAL

Rock-Able will allow attendees to gain a better understanding of people with developmental disabilities using a real rock performance by LEFTSTRONGER and  a presentation by lead singer & songwriter Jesse Magee

…imagine a REAL performing rock band coming to perform for you

Jesse Magee will explain his life growing up with physical, social and family challenges. His inspirational story and many accomplishments help listeners understand the loneliness and isolation faced by somepeople with developmental disabilities. Jesse is legally blind and has cerebral palsy on his right side. This doesn’t stop him from being an accomplished drummer, professional drum instructor, as well as one of the most talented and respected singer/songwriters and young rock stars on the East Coast!

Jesse will show your audience how he plays the guitar upside down, plays the keyboards with one hand and plays drums professionally, even with his affected hand. Then the audience will enjoy the music of LEFTSTRONGER, Jesse’s original rock band. The band members will rock the house with a professional PA system and demonstrate Jesse’s talent in a fun, rockin’ way.

Jesse maneuvers on a professional stage with only 10% vision and Cerebral Palsy. As an experienced drum instructor, too, he has a natural affinity for children and adults of all ages, including those with disabilities. Everyone will relate to Jesse in some way! His talent speaks for itself, and nothing will stand in the way of his success and being a role model for others.

The Rock-Able program has been performed in Maryland at Sussex Elementary-Baltimore County, Harpers Choice Middle School-Howard County, Baltimore City Public School/North Ave-Baltimore, North Carroll Community School-Carroll County, Wayside Elementary School in Montgomery County, Chesapeake Terrace Elementary School in Baltimore County, The Cerebral Palsy Group and many many other schools and sites in the Region.
